Waterproofing & protection

One continuous membrane, wherever water gets in

Liquid-applied waterproofing and protective coatings that bond to the structure and wrap every detail without a seam.

Tiles and bathrooms

Leaking showers, wet rooms and tiled terraces usually fail at the grout and the corners, not the tile. We waterproof over the existing tiles with a clear or coloured membrane that seals the grout lines and upstands, so the bathroom is not ripped out to fix a leak.

Built for
Leaking showers and wet rooms, tiled terraces, grout failure
Finish
Clear over tiles, or a coloured coating
Corrugated metal roof coated with a seamless light grey protective membrane

Roofs and metal structures

Flat roofs, metal roofs, gutters and steel structures are waterproofed with cold-applied liquid membranes that overlay what is there. On metal, the system also stops corrosion at fixings and laps, which is where profiled roofs let water in.

Built for
Flat and profiled roofs, gutters, steel frames, cladding
Finish
Seamless membrane, UV-stable top coat, light colours to reflect heat
Base of a refrigeration unit sealed with a grey protective coating

Refrigeration units

Cold stores and refrigeration units generate constant condensation and ice at the panel joints and the floor junction. We seal the joints, coves and floors with flexible systems that cope with the temperature swings, keeping water out of the insulation and the structure dry.

Built for
Condensation, ice, panel and floor junctions, washdown
Finish
Flexible, hygienic, coved to the panels
Apartment balcony with a pale grey anti-slip waterproof finish

Verandas, balconies and basements

Balconies and verandas leak into the room below through thresholds, drains and the edge detail. Basements let water in from the other side. Both get a continuous membrane taken up the walls and into the outlets, with an anti-slip finish where people walk and a tanking system where the water pressure is from outside.

Built for
Standing water, thresholds, drains, below-ground water pressure
Finish
Anti-slip walkable coating; cementitious or liquid tanking below ground
Concrete foundation walls coated with a black waterproof membrane before backfill

Foundations

The cheapest time to waterproof a foundation is before the ground goes back. We coat foundation walls and slabs with membranes designed for permanent contact with damp ground, protecting the concrete and keeping the building above it dry for its life.

Built for
New foundations, retaining walls, permanent ground contact
Finish
Bituminous or polymer membrane, protected before backfill

How the membrane goes on

Three layers, no seams

Prime

The surface is cleaned, repaired and primed so the membrane bonds to the structure rather than sitting on top of it.

Membrane

The liquid membrane is applied in continuous coats, up the walls, into outlets and around every pipe and rooflight. When it cures there is nothing to lap.

Protect

A UV-stable or walkable top coat finishes the system, with anti-slip texture where there is foot traffic.
